Join soprano Vania Chan and Toronto's Rezonance Baroque Ensemble for an exciting afternoon of Vivaldi's music! Enjoy the drama and vocal pyrotechnics of Vivaldi's opera arias and get to know a different side of his orchestral music with a selection of his concerti for strings. There will be a pre-concert chat at 2:45 pm, offering background information on the Venetian composer, and a chance to get to know the performing artists. This event/project recieved support from the Richmond Hill Community and Cultural Grant Program.

Rezonance Baroque Ensemble - presented by Hammer Baroque

Another round of Vivaldi, this time featured as part of Hammer Baroque's

concert series,in Hamilton. Rezonance brings you the vocal pyrotechnics

of coloratura soprano Vania Chan. Some, such as the Domine Deus from

his "Gloria", may be familiar, while others are the hidden gems you have

come to expect from Rezonance programming. Get to know a different

side of Vivaldi's orchestral music as well, with a selection of his concerti

for strings - no one instrument gets to shine in these concerti that

showcase the entire orchestra.

Artistic Director Emeritus David Fallis returns with one of Toronto’s beloved

Christmas traditions! Singers, violins, cornetti, sackbuts, theorbos and

keyboards grace the balconies and stage, as we recreate the joy of

Christmas Vespers as it might have been heard under the direction of

Michael Praetorius in 17th-century Germany. In the spirit of the season,

the audience and Consort join forces in singing favourite early Christmas

carols. A sell-out in previous seasons, this yuletide celebration marks the

triumphant return of live audiences!

CHINATOWN presented by City Opera Vancouver

A New Opera by Madeleine Thien (librettist), Alice Ho (composer),

and Paul Yee (Hosian translator)

Vania premieres the role of "Wenli" in this story of family and neighbourhood, racism and resistance, history and tomorrow. In two acts and two hours it examines six characters, two families, and a chorus of male ghosts, from the building of the CPR through to our own times. It deals with violence and despair, the Head Tax, the Exclusion Act, paper sons, and paper promise.
